For many reasons, a parent and child(ren) may have lost contact, or the child(ren) refuses to have contact with a parent. Reunification therapy addresses the reasons for the lost or difficult relationships and, if appropriate, gradually reintroduces the parent and child(ren). The process focuses on each individual as well as the family system involved. (Taken from Summary Guide, Comparing Roles in Family Cases).
This service is treated as a normal therapy service, please visit our Therapy page for more information on the process or contact our office at (612) 824-3369.
Co-parenting therapy is a service offered to parents looking for assistance in navigating the complexities of co-parenting. It offers a safe and supportive space where parents can address their concerns, improve communication, and develop effective co-parenting strategies. This form of parental counseling helps parents overcome challenges such as conflicting parenting styles, unresolved conflicts, and differences in decision-making. By working with a trained professional, parents can learn to understand each other's perspectives, manage emotions, and find common ground for the wellbeing of their children. Co-parenting counseling also assists in fostering healthy boundaries and establishing clear guidelines for co-parenting responsibilities. Furthermore, this counseling can address issues related to parental conflict, helping parents develop effective conflict resolution skills and minimizing the negative impact of disagreement on their children.
Parents may make the decision to attend co-parenting therapy together. In other cases, a judge may order that they attend. Unlike other types of ongoing therapy, co-parenting therapy is typically brief. Parents may stop when the judge and/or therapist feel that they have improved and reached their goals.
Depending on the needs and circumstances of your family and co-parenting relationships and any other professionals involved with your case, Dr. Reid will determine if Relationships, llc will offer co-parenting therapy (billable to insurance) or Parent Coaching.
Relationships, llc offers Parent Coaching in the following format:
· $250 per session
· A 6 session retainer ($1,500) is provided prior to initiation of services, with all sessions to be completed within a period of 6 months.
· This is NOT billable to any health insurance policies; an out-of-pocket retainer is required.
